The Buck Lake Native Plant Garden (BLNPG) will begin planting this spring. Over the past two years the BLNPG Association prepared the site by grading it based on a planting plan, cleared and tilled the land. The irrigation system is designed and ready to be installed. So after two years of planning, the site will now begin to show signs of development into, what is hoped to be, a destination garden highlighting plants native to the western region of Washington, Oregon and British Columbia.

 

The Garden is intended to serve educational programs (public and private school systems, Master Gardeners and the public) and provide a place for community members and the public to view the various species of plants of the Northwest.

The irrigation system will be installed as soon as two weeks of dry weather come this way, and followed by section by section planting as the weather permits. The planting process will probably extend over four years depending on resources – both monetary and availability of volunteer help.

 

The Association will rely on donations from the community, grants (we need a grant writer to step up and volunteer), Master Gardener volunteers, and smiles and encouragement from the greater Hansville community.
